Show #28 – Another Sucky Summer

We’re back! Again! Yes, we know it’s becoming somewhat of a cliché but hey – that’s what modern Hollywood is all about. We’re very happy to oblige.

Where have we been? Several thousand miles and eight hours apart, in fact, but you can hear all about that when you download… along with us blabbering about the Summer That Was 2009, featuring such movies Stephen saw as The Hangover, Funny People, 500 Days of Summer, GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, District 9, Inglorious Basterds and movies Al saw, such as… Moon. Well, nothing changes really.

It’s a fun-packed, film-packed, flub-packed forty or so minutes. And even better, we recorded another one straight after! We almost certainly won’t have another six month gap between them.

Show #27 – Who watches the Watchmen? I did. I think

Well, after another *cough* unavoidable delay in editing – at least, not tied to some awards show or other this time – we’re back with show #27. The same number as Batman’s debut in Detective Comics.

A useless piece of trivia? Or perhaps something… symbolic of a show that dives into the ins and outs of the long-awaited Watchmen. Well I say dives, more ‘dips a toe in and then runs away ‘cos it’s cold’.

As well as that we have some stuff… to say… about things… but I forgot what it was, just like we did, repeatedly, while recording this. Come for the reviews! Stay for the… uhh.. what was it again?

Show #25 – We are DONE, professionally

It’s been a big couple of weeks, not least because we discovered that Hollywood megastars occasionally swear… even when it’s not from a script. I know, I know. Don’t worry; together we can heal these wounds.

Apart from picking over the bloated, swelled-in-the-sun corpse of ‘The Christian Bale Loses His Shit’ story, we also manage to do a few very bad impressions, and then segue into actually talking about Terminator: Salvation: The Stage Play.

From that, straight on to the biggest adverts of the year; yes, better than the summer blockbusters themselves, it’s the Superbowl Spots! Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, Land of the Lost, Fast and Furious, GI Joe (AKA ‘Action Force: The Movie’)… can you guess which of these we actually enjoyed? (It’s not that hard if you think about it.)

Year One leads us into an autopsy on Harold Ramis’ career – it’s not too late for Ghostbusters 3, Egon – and then we’re off and running again like we’ve just stuck our fingers in a live plug, just like Jason Statham in Crank 2: High Voltage. Not content with just electrocuting himself in Crank 2, apparently Statham’s going to be part of Stallone’s all-action-hero testosterone fest, The Expendables – but just which Oscar winning British actor is also part of the line-up? Listen and find out.

Between this, a lot of confusion over who’s won what (or even been nominated) for any awards so far this year, we both manage to talk about DVDs you’ve probably never even heard of, let alone will ever rent. In other words it’s the sort of fun-packed forty minutes you’ve come to expect.

Musical intro and outro from the brilliant remix by RevoLucian of Bale’s infamous words.
