It’s the great big Tagline 2007 movie preview, starring a cast of thousands! And 16 movies of all stripes. Just in time for the tail end of January (ahem).

As always, feel free to drop us an email about the show, leave a comment, or now send us a voicemail via Odeo – just click on the About tab at the site.

SHOW NOTES

00:00 – A blast from the past to get us going, talking about the future… excerpt from Prince’s Batman soundtrack.

00:30 – Intro time, complete with extended metaphors.

01:45 – Starting in no particular order with… 300.

05:30 – Call the fuzz… Hot Fuzz.

10:40 – Biggest movie of the year? And our only ‘threequel’ on our list… Spider-Man 3.

18:00 – Will Smith is the Last Man on Earth… kicking vampire butt in I Am Legend.

21:25 – Can Pixar get back into my good books with Ratatouille? Signs point to yes.
22:30 – Ridley Scott + Russell Crowe + Denzel Washington = American Gangster.

24:05 – A slight detour into talking about David Fincher’s ‘comeback’, Zodiac.

25:50 – Thinking about Christmas already? Hollywood would like you to remember the name… Fred Claus.

28:10 – Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez bring you three hours of shocks! Thrills! It’s Grindhouse.

30:35 – I refuse to speak about it, but Al wanted to… The Simpsons Movie.

32:30 – And the big finale. This summer you’ll have a choice… oooh… Live Free or Die Hard.

35:30 – That’s it for the movies we really want to see… but our honourable mentions (although they’re certainly not all honourable) include threequels Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End, Shrek the Third and Ocean’s 13.

39:50 – Not to forget Michael Bay’s Transformers…

43:25 – …and later in the year, the first part of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy – The Golden Compass (or Northern Lights, if you’re English).

45:49 – The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. “Best title ever.”

48:08 – And we’re out.

Thanks again for listening. Send us an email, and/or money if you like.

Show #6 – John McClane is bald. Deal with it.

It’s Christmaaaaaaaaaas! And in the world of movies, that just means one thing: John McClane is back. Well, he’s not back yet, he’s back next year, but there’s a teaser out for the fourth Die Hard flick and surprisingly, it takes up a lot of our talking time.

On top of that, loads of talk about Superman: The Ultimate Collection, more ragging on Eragon (geddit) and plenty of DVDs and stuff. A stuffed show for Chrimbo!

Take a listen and if you enjoy, please feel free to drop us an email and/or a comment on the site.

Show notes

00:00 – Our brief intro ‘theme’ – excerpted from Spybreak, by Propellerheads, from The Matrix Original Soundtrack.

00:15 – Introduction time…

01:23 – News! Starting with the traditional box-office rundown. Featuring Eragon, The Pursuit of Happyness and Charlotte’s Web. Who came out on top?

05:04 – The only nice thing we’ll say about Eragon for this podcast; we got some facts about it wrong. Oh, that and The Big Sleep.

05:44 – Pulp movies are coming back! Sam Raimi will (probably) direct a new version of The Shadow.

09:23 – And Guillermo Del Toro may direct a new Tarzan flick. Fancy.

13:14 – “We might as well talk about trailers because we haven’t seen any movies.”

13:30 – Live Free or Die Hard. Which totally is the title. Believe it or not, just about all that Al can talk about is Bruce Willis’ lack of hair.
22:42 – The Hitcher, as in the remake.

28:30 – Epic Movie. Oh Gods, save us from the remake of the spoofs of the remakes….

30:46 – Al’s seen C.R.A.Z.Y. As in, zee crazee French flick.

32:15 – Rollerball. The original, not the remake, kids.

36:00 – Lords of Dogtown, the ‘fictional’ version of the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, written by the guy who directed the documentary and is one of the main characters. But doesn’t play himself. Confused?

39:12 – Stephen’s finally got ahold of Superman: The Ultimate Collection (available at Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com and Play.com – although it looks sold out everywhere!). It just doesn’t get any bigger than this, Superman fans. Or nerdier.

48:23 – Christmas Hangover Movies That Make You Cry. This was all Al’s idea; you can tell.

53:30 – We’re not done! Al saw Brainstorm and just had to talk about Christopher Walken some more. But, you’ll be glad to hear, he can’t do an impression.

57:25 – But wait! We forgot to do ‘Guess the 25 Word Review’ – oh mercy me! A great chance to abuse our five listeners.

58:39 – The Great Escape slips in… a classic Christmas flick. If you like watching people getting gunned down.

59:32 – Closing down, and my traditional plea for email – send it to taglinepodcast AT gmail DOT com, ya bastards – or leave a comment below.

Have a great Christmas everybody, and we’ll talk to you in 2007!
