Well apparently, we’re just totally over this summer’s movies after a string of disappointments and duds have left us craving next summer’s fare. Which is of course more of the same – sequels that resurrect our childhood memories and get us all dewey-eyed with nostalgia… that’s why Al’s been talking about Indiana Jones 4 at every damn opportunity he can, and we’ve both been paying (a little) attention to The Dark Knight, AKA Batman 6… 7? It’s a lot of Batmen anyway….
Apart from us waxing about those two movies – that are so far away, they’re much easier to joke about – we also weigh in on the ‘mysterious Cloverfield‘ or perhaps 1-18-08, or Cthulhu: The Movie, or Ghostbusters III… we wish.
And finally… I, at least, went to the movies. So download to hear me talking about 28 Weeks Later (Good!), Ocean’s Thirteen (Not so good!) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Also good!).
Shit, I just totally told you all you need to know. Download it anyway, okay? It’s a good show. Honest.
We’ll be back soon – probably. Set your watches!
With the sun shining down on good ol’ Blighty, and I don’t just mean in Danny Boyle’s new flick, you’d think we’d have no inclination to go sit inside for a couple of hours and watch movies. You’d be wrong!
This time out we’re talking Grindhouse, and how it’s flopping harder than a fat kid throwing themselves into the deep end. We’re talking Premiere magazine, and mourning its death. We’re talking The Forbidden Kingdom, even though we know nothing about it. And of course, we couldn’t let a podcast go by without mentioning Indy IV, or talking about random superhero flicks. (Although of course since this podcast has gone by, Shia “No, I’m not in Indy IV, honest” LaBeouf has actually ended up in the movie. Fo’ real.)
As for the movies we went to see, well there’s the much-hyped Sunshine, and much-discussed Days of Glory (aka, Indigènes). Are either up them up to snuff? Download and find out.
Music this time from the soundtrack to Clerks – a charming little ditty called Violent Mood Swings.
Hard to come up with a witty headline when all you’ve got to work with is glistening pecs, Hollywood’s version of history, and a pun on a number. I suck. It’s the cold.
Back online after we’ve watched at least one movie between the two of us. We’re here for you despite the pressing needs of gardens overgrowing with weeds and colds that might get lesser podcasters down. But not us! We’re here to talk about the fanboy phenomenon that is 300, or Frank Miller’s 300 if you prefer, because it surely isn’t Zack Snyder’s.
That’s the big movie review along with plenty of news about Indiana Jones and the Movie We Can’t Shut Up About, Rodriguez and Tarantino’s Grindhouse and Danny Boyle’s epic-sci-fi attempt, Sunshine.
Music this time out is a brief blast from Harry Connick Jr. No really. He did this blues album. Two of them actually, although one of them was a concept album. What? He’s an actor too. There’s a connection, dammit.
Email us, bitches!
