Show #29 – Feel the heat

As I (being Stephen) live in California now, it has a tendency to get hot some days. Take 90-degree temperatures, lock a movie fan in a room with no AC, and record his ramblings for 30 minutes: the result isn’t pretty, people. It also explains the weird ever-present sound of… nothing in the background.

Don’t worry, next time out we switch and Al has all the weird interference.

Anyway! Despite sweating more than Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now, we managed to put together a semi-coherent half-hour of movie talk, as we catch up with the news we’ve missed talking about for the last six months, including:

  • Al’s thoughts on Watchmen, the DVD Experience
  • our pre-backlash backlash on Avatar
  • Leo D-C in Inception and Shutter Island
  • the trailer for Men Who Stare at Goats, which leads naturally into us starting rumours about Ewan MacGregor and The Hobbit
  • Al’s thoughts about Frightfest (of course, he didn’t go) and The Wolfman
  • Then a final movie medley including Captain America, Youth in Revolt, Ninja Assassin and Kick Ass!

All that packed into 30 minutes! What more could you want in a free podcast??

Show #22 – Iron Man and, what else – Indy

After dragging Al back to the microphone… we’re back again just in time to talk about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – jeez, even typing that title is a pain in the ass. Just assume when we say ‘Indy’ we’re talking about that flick, yeah?

As well as that obsessive rambling from both of us – which hasn’t been this bad since ‘The Phantom Menace Period’ – I actually got to the movies to see Iron Man, and have plenty to say about that in a spoiler-filled chat, which naturally leads to plenty of geeky talk about Marvel’s movie slate for the next three years.

As well as all that, we let the Wachowskis know what their next career move should be after Speed Racer’s flop, give you the skinny on what James Cameron should do after Avatar and also decide the fate of the Spider-Man franchise. All before 40 minutes is up.

It’s a good one folks, or at least I think it is – hell, I laughed out loud, and I was there when we recorded it.

PS: Back to good ol’ MP3 this time out. Screw Garageband.
